Performs all aspects of clinical support for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. May assist with compilation and reporting of procedural information to benchmarking, regulatory, or accreditation agency(ies), as required. Participates with all team members to provide and achieve optimal patient outcome. Participates in on-call rotation for emergency cardiovascular procedures outside normal operating hours. Will be assigned to the Electrophysiology Suite. Will function as a Charge RN on a day-to-day rotational basis in the Cardiac Catheterization/ Electrophysiology Laboratory. Accepts assignment to Echo-Cardiology and maintains competencies for both departments.

This position is subject to scheduled on-call assignments as needed, due to community event influence on Emergency Department patient volumes.

In the absence of the Unit Manager, the GN is responsible to the Clinical Supervisor, Charge Nurse or the Clinical Coordinator of the shift. The GN must practice under the supervision of a registered nurse.   Provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through use of the nursing process. This includes the responsibility for assessment of the patient's needs, development of the plan of care to meet those needs, implementation of nursing measures and evaluation of the effectiveness of the nursing care and other treatment measures.

Functions independently and collaboratively to assure appropriate utilization of resources for patients across the continuum of care. Responsible for facilitating a timely and effective discharge plan in collaboration with the patient/family physician and other care givers. Coordinates patient care across an episode of care.

Performs a variety of functions necessary for meal service. Maintains a clean and orderly environment, and washes equipment and utensils according to standard practices and procedures. Assists with assembling patient trays, special events, and cafeteria meal services. Complies with regulatory requirements.  

Diagnoses and treats adult diseases and injuries while addressing ways to prevent these conditions.  Practices in medical office, Mount Nittany Medical Center, and various other facilities as needed.  Actively participate as a member of the healthcare team to engage patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination of patient care. - Examines patient for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders and determines nature and extent of injury or disorder using medical instruments and equipment. - Elicits and records information about patient's medical history. - Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition. - Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition. - Administers or prescribes therapeutic procedures, treatments, and drugs as indicated by diagnosis. - Advises patients concerning diet, hygiene, activities, and methods for prevention of disease. - May round at various hospital facilities. - Takes emergency call on a rotating basis on evenings, weekends, and holidays. - Refers patients to other medical specialists when indicated. - Maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA guidelines in accordance with federal law. Responsible to the Manager of Women & Children’s Services for overall practice. Functions under supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and circulating nurse as a scrub or assist. Assists in the delivery of patient care in the Delivery Room under the supervision of the professional nurse according to AWHONN Practice Standards.

Assists in providing technical and clerical support to the Medical Staff Office team and to the Medical Center’s Medical Staff, including clinical departments and committees.  Assists with the coordination of all Medical Staff requirements.  Safeguards confidential information in the Medical Staff office.
