*This position qualifies for the Mount Nittany Health Employee Referral incentive as per policy 6063*   Responsible to the Unit Director/Manager for the overall nursing practice of the unit for the shift of assignment. In the absence of the Unit Manager, the GN is responsible to the Clinical Supervisor, Charge Nurse or the Clinical Coordinator of the shift. The Supervisor assists the Manager with but not limited to: • Workforce planning; • Establishing and implementing standards for practice and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for staff in their area of responsibility; • The ongoing support and cultivation of a culture of shared decision making; • Budgeting and planning. Perform administrative activities associated with patient office visits. Actively participates as a member of the healthcare team to engage patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination of patient care.

Coordinates daily clinic activities including patient scheduling and flow, ensuring adequate and appropriate staff coverage and managing employee and provider schedules on a daily basis. The Clinic Coordinator role is in addition to primary clinical function in the practice (i.e. rooming patients; authorizations; triage) according to established standards, practices and healthcare techniques. Demonstrates competence in making professional judgments pertaining to patient care.

The Manager assumes responsibility to manage day-to-day operations of the unit/department to provide high quality and safe patient care in a safe practice environment. The manager directs and develops staff; collaborates with multidisciplinary professionals; and provides service excellence. Provides excellent customer service skills and attention to detail. Interviews patients or their representatives in order to obtain information necessary for high-quality fulfillment of duties listed above. Collaborates and works as a team with inpatient, outpatient, and physician practice staff. Demonstrates the ability to learn and operate within multiple different IT systems and programs. Exhibits effective communication skills providing for effective delivery of important information and shows competence in telecommunications. Displays professionalism and a friendly demeanor to create an environment of customer service and hospitality. Demonstrates compassion and a composed demeanor when working with patients experiencing varying degrees of clinical acuity. Coverage on all shifts and at all Mount Nittany Health locations may be required.

Serves as a member of the Medical Center’s Emergency Medical Services Team whose primary responsibility is to assist the Paramedics with inter-facility transports, assist with non-emergency invalid van transports, and provide quality patient care services in accordance with Medical Center and departmental policies and standards, applicable laws, and accepted Emergency Medical Technician practices.
