Overview

Performs the duties of a Medical Dosimetrist under the supervision of the Technical Director, Medical Director and the medical physicist.

Qualifications

Education:

 

1) Completes training required to obtain certification as a Dosimetrist or must have additional training through a recognized program in medical dosimetry, or a minimum of one year dosimetry training under a certified physicist.

 

Experience:

 

1) At least one year experience as a Medical Dosimetrist.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

 

1) Must have the ability to function as a team member; and the ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with patients, staff members and physicians.
2) Must demonstrate the ability to work with patients' families who are often under physical and/or emotional stress.
3) Must have ability to work cooperatively with other personnel in the department, in other areas of the Medical Center and in doctor's office.
4) Intermediate computer operational/software skills.
5) Ability to work well with patients, family members, physicians, visitors, coworkers, and others.
6) Ability to work positively and with a caring attitude towards patients and their families who are often under physical and/or emotional stress.

 

License/Certification/Registration:

 

1) Current certification as a Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) or CMD eligible.
2) Must be board certified within 1 year of hire date.
3) Meets the American Heart Association’s standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews BLS every two years.
